The Columbus Crew are a professional soccer team based in Columbus, Ohio, that competes in Major League Soccer (MLS). The Crew were founded in 1994 and began play in the MLS in 1996. The team's home stadium is Lower.com Field, which has a capacity of 20,011. 

The Crew's nickname is a reference to the city of Columbus' history as a major center for the railroad industry. The city was once known as the "Railroad Capital of the World," and the Crew's nickname is a nod to that heritage.
