Brownsville Charros

There have been two teams called the Brownsville Charros. The first team played in the Southwest Texas League from 1910 to 1911 and again in the Texas Valley League in 1928. The second team played in various minor leagues from 1938 to 1953 and again in the United League Baseball in 2014.

The Charros nickname is a reference to the charro, a traditional Mexican cowboy. The charro is a symbol of Mexican culture and heritage, and the Charros nickname is a reflection of the city of Brownsville's strong Mexican-American community.
