Poca Dots

The Poca Dots are the athletic teams of Poca High School in Poca, West Virginia. The name "Dots" is a reference to the school's original mascot, which was an American Indian riding upon a white horse. In 1928, a Charleston Gazette reporter said that the football players "look like a bunch of red polka dots running around the field!" The name stuck and is still currently used.  And... the town is called "poca".
