in 1937, the University of Pittsburgh Panthers football team put together one of the most impressive seasons in college football history. Led by legendary coach Jock Sutherland, the team finished the season with a flawless 9-0 record, outscoring their opponents by a combined score of 225-32.

The Panthers' dominant season was anchored by a stifling defense that allowed just 3.6 points per game, shutting out five of their nine opponents. The defense was led by a number of standout players, including All-American defensive tackle Bill Glassford and All-Eastern end John Chickerneo.

Offensively, the Panthers were just as impressive, scoring an average of 25 points per game. The team was led by quarterback Bill Daddio, who threw for 684 yards and six touchdowns on the season, and fullback Dick Cassiano, who rushed for 582 yards and seven touchdowns.

The highlight of the Panthers' season came in their final game against their archrivals, the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The game was played in front of a record-breaking crowd of over 58,000 fans at Pitt Stadium in Pittsburgh. Despite being heavy underdogs, the Panthers dominated the game, winning 21-0 and earning the unofficial national championship.

The 1937 Pitt Panthers remain one of the greatest college football teams of all time. Their unbeaten season will always be remembered as a legendary achievement in the history of the sport.
