A Walrus names Thor managed to cancel the New Year celebrations that had been planned in the seaside town of Scarborough, North Yorkshire, UK.
Scarborough council cancelled the fireworks that were to be set off to celebrate the start of the new year (2023) after taking advise from British Divers Marine Life Rescue. There were concerns that the fireworks may cause the Walrus distress.
The unusual visitor to the popular seaside town of Scarborough has recently attracted many visitors to the area. Visitors to the area have been asked to keep a respectful distance away from the Walrus and it has been stressed to visitors that the walrus is protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981.
